More About Us:
My love for counted cross stitch began when I was 13 years old and on summer vacation. We stopped in the little town of Pawleys Island, S. C. There, in the back of the Pawleys Island Hammock Shop, was a lady named Ginnie Thompson who taught me how to cross stitch and sold me my first piece of Hardanger cloth, DMC floss and a Scandinavian Design Book. I stitched all the way home to Philadelphia in the back of the car and I was hooked.
Many years later, the Thompson family helped me establish a retail needlework store and I became the owner/operator of The Cross/Stitchery Shop, first in Bala Cynwyd, PA and later in Havertown, PA. I was blessed with many wonderful customers and vendors. I was happy to be able to teach many people the simple art of cross stitch and we all shared our lives and hobbies together. I met Ned Adams and his wife Ellie while a shopkeeper and convinced him that he wanted to be a needlework designer. He took me up on my offer of charting my storefront as his first project. After that first taste, Ned decided to start capturing his love of history in charted form, thus the many historical designs that he has charted over the years.
With the arrival of the internet, I have been able to "meet" and work with the other talented designers on these pages. After many, many emails, we have come to know and respect each others' common interests, goals and plans for the future. We appreciate hearing from you, the loyal stitching public, about how well we are filling your stitching baskets with projects that you love. As we are stitchers too, we take exceptional pride in our counted cross stitch kits. We take an extra step that no one else does - we SERGE the EDGE of your fabric for you to prevent it from fraying and allow you to start stitching immediately. We include FULL directions so that even if you are a beginner, you can stitch our kits with confidence. We also use the finest quality materials in the industry, including DMC floss which we separate onto a FLOSS CARD for you. Each color is marked with the name and number so that you do not have to struggle with figuring out the colors. All of our kits are MADE IN AMERICA, in our workroom, so you are supporting us when you purchase our kits.
